The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle held an all-day conference on the integration of technology into the classroom. Keynote speaker David Wicks, EdD gave an engaging presentation on how technology can promote student engagement. He explored research-based ideas for technology integration by examining classroom examples. Conference participants then broke off into hands-on session groups led by teachers who are successfully implementing new tools.
Ikea will be opening a new store in the spring of 2017. On October 29, the official groundbreaking ceremony took place at the new construction site. Ikea representatives gave an inspired pep talk and the Mayor of Renton gave a big thumbs up to the project.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle celebrated their annual Kickoff Campaign and Fundraiser. Hundreds of guests mingled, shared a delicious meal and heard inspirational stories from the community.
I photographed the 2014 Ravishing Women Indian fashion show and honoring of entrepreneurial women. The event was held in Bellevue Washington and hundreds of guests attended and participated in the celebration.
Seattle Uncorked Wine Club hosted the “Meet your maker” spirits and local distillery event on March 2nd at the Old Rainier Brewery, in SODO. Distilleries from all across Washington State showed off their products. Some Washington distilleries at Meet Your Maker were just getting their spirits into bottles for the first time. Others are pioneers of the Washington craft distillers movement. This is your chance to meet the distillers first hand and learn some of the secrets behind their illustrious trade. Guests were able to enjoy a vast sampling of local spirits and take pride in living in the state that now leads the nation in craft distilleries.
A Seattle Uncorked event featuring the Northwest’s best women chefs, winemakers and sommeliers. The event was held at the Columbia Tower Sky Club with stunning views above the city and delicious food and wine. There was a fabulous array of delicious appetizers and wines from the women stars of Washington’s best restaurants and wineries. Proceeds supported the Women’s Funding Alliance.
The Jewish Federation of Greater Seattle hosted the “Connections 2014” Women in the Spotlight luncheon at the elegant Fairmont Hotel in downtown Seattle. Jamie Peha of Table Talk Northwest hosted the panel showcasing four influential women in the community. In the spotlight were Patty Fleischmann, Esther Friend, Whitney Stern and Adisa Ayasa Tassma.
The Chris Elliot Fund celebrated the opening of their patient services office in January 2014. A ribbon cutting ceremony with Redmond city council member Hank Myers kicked off the evening, followed by tours of the new facility, speakers and lots of gratitude. JMS has donated the space for use- the new location works well because it’s not too far from their previous location and is close to State Route 520 for patients coming from Seattle and other areas.

The Third Annual InfluenceHer fundraising event was a HUGE success! Held at 1927 Events in downtown Seattle, this gathering of women raised money for the InfluenceHer organization that supports mentoring and leadership programs for girls.
Celebrating the anniversary of Pike Place Market by enjoying the bounty of local food, wine, brews and more! At the height of summer in Seattle guests joined us for a special evening at the Market where they will sipped and savored their way through many of the region’s best restaurants, wineries, breweries and distilleries. The Social Network Band had the dance floor ROCKIN’ into the evening.
All proceeds from the event benefit our mission to feed the hungry, care for the sick, educate kids, and find homes for those without at Pike Place Market.
The Seattle Uncorked Wine club hosted the eleventh annual Rose Revival & Cool Whites wine event at Rays Boathouse on June 19, 2013. The outdoor deck was full and the party was hopping! Thirty three wineries were at the event pouring their wines, making new friends and raising money for the Save Our Wild Salmon organization.

I photographed the fundraising luncheon for the Chris Elliot Fund, non-profit organization. Wow!! what an inspiring afternoon! Several speakers shared their personal stories of facing brain cancer and the tremendous support they received from the Chris Elliot Fund. Each speaker mentioned what a tremendous resource the Chris Elliot fund had been to them on their journey. They felt armed with essential information to ask their health provider the right questions for making life-enhancing choices.
“For more than a decade, Chris Elliott Fund has distinctly served as one of the nation’s premier resources dedicated to providing brain tumor patients with crucial patient services and immediate access to advanced treatments and comprehensive support programs. Through our education and awareness events and our call center and advocacy hotline, we are building a network of doctors, patients, survivors, caregivers, loved ones and friends who are passionately dedicated to winning the fight to end brain cancer.”
Photography from this event showcases the event sponsors, honorary speakers and guests. The photographs are helpful for social media campaigns and marketing for future events.
Seattle Uncorked hosted the annual Sexy Syrah wine event at Salty’s on Alki, Seattle WA. Wow! What a night- warm enough to enjoy the outdoor deck overlooking the sound. The event was sold out with Washington wineries pouring their best Syrah. Salty’s provided an amazing array of ‘tantalizing tastes’. What a great night!
InfluenceHer a Seattle based empowerment organization for girls hosted a movie screening of Girl Rising. The film spotlights the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change a girl – and the world. The screening was held at the JBL theater in the Experience Movie Project (EMP). The film was sold out – with a fair amount of young girls in the audience… inspiring our future leaders
A fun Seattle Uncorked wine event held at Teatro Zinnzani “Big Top” in Seattle, WA. Washington wineries and distilleries showcased the best in unusual and exotic grapes. Guests and wineries got into the spirit of the venue and dressed in boas, sparkles and extra glitter. David LeClaire has been hosting this event for several years and wants to provide from the Seattle rain, by creating the opportunity to “come out of hibernation”, make new friends and sip some unusual and delicious varietals.

What a great start to the New Year– I was in Minneapolis and photographed the “One Blink = Dance” event. A dear friend of mine, David Anderson DJ’d a New Years Eve party using only his eyes! David has been diagnosed with ALS and communicates using his eyes. Thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign, his team raised over $30,000 to enhance eye tracking software. These photos speak a 1,000 words about the inspiration, joy, community and love that filled the Arizona Theater in Minneapolis. More photos can be seen here.
Paper Dresses ( Vesitidos de Papel), is a series of three life size adult dresses designed and worn as part of the 2011 PLOP! Performance Series in Beunos Aires in created by Josie Davis in collaboration with Ceci Jazmin and Florenencia Aliaga. The dresses were photographed in downtown Auburn, Washington as part of the Storefronts Auburn Project- an experimentation in activating vacant space with art and creative enterprise.Our models strolled along the downtown streets and interacted with local residents. The dresses are meant to delight your imagination and inspire your creativity!
The dresses are currently on display in a storefront window. Large scale photographs (3’x5′) are suspended inside the space and giving depth and dimension and to the exhibit.
