Project Overview:
Seattle became the center of global internet policy discussions as ICANN 82 took place at the Hyatt Regency, bringing together leaders, policymakers, and industry experts to shape the future of internet governance. The conference featured dynamic keynote speakers & board members, packed ballrooms, and multilingual translation services, ensuring accessibility for attendees from around the world. As an event photographer, I had the opportunity to capture the energy of the sessions, the diverse voices in attendance, and the behind-the-scenes moments that made ICANN 82 a truly international gathering.
Internet Governance Conference
ICANN is a non-profit organization responsible for coordinating the assignment of domain names and IP addresses, ensuring a stable and secure global internet. Given the importance of its work, ICANN 82 drew a diverse group of attendees from around the world, fostering discussions that prioritized inclusivity and collaboration. The conference featured breakout sessions on key topics such as internet policy, cybersecurity, and the domain name system (DNS).
To accommodate its international audience, the event included a translation booth covering all official UN languages, allowing for seamless multilingual participation. I was particularly struck by the global diversity of the attendees and aimed to be a welcoming, friendly photographer, ensuring everyone felt comfortable in front of the camera. The atmosphere was one of cooperation, connectivity, and inclusivity.
This photo set primarily captures moments from the Hyatt Regency ballroom, including the Board of Directors’ open Q&A session with audience members. With Seattle’s reputation as a hub for tech and global conferences, many guests also took advantage of the opportunity to explore the city’s landmarks and attractions.
