Project Overview:
This summer, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Power & Energy Society (PES) hosted its premier Global Conference at Seattle’s iconic Summit Convention Center. Known for attracting industry experts from around the world, this annual event provides a unique international forum to promote, share, and discuss advancements and challenges in the field of electrical power engineering.
A Seattle-Inspired Welcome
The event kicked off with a memorable mix-and-mingle social hour, showcasing replicas of Seattle’s most iconic landmarks. A stilt artist, dressed in a sparkly Space Needle costume, gracefully strolled the hallways, towering over the crowd. Meanwhile, two “fishmongers” engaged guests in a lively fish toss, reminiscent of the Pike Place Market experience. These immersive elements, curated by JLL Meetings & Events, brought a true taste of Seattle to the Summit’s convention floors, setting the stage for a unique networking experience.
A Packed Agenda of Insights and Innovation
The conference itself was filled with engaging programming. IEEE PES President led a compelling fireside chat with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Secretary of Electricity in the Summit’s main ballroom. Attendees could participate in super sessions, plenary panel discussions, and specialized poster sessions, each focusing on cutting-edge topics in power and energy. The conference also hosted dedicated sessions for Women in Power and young professionals, creating a supportive space for growth and networking.
